We’ve been supporting all of the Julie Campiche Quartet’s recent releases here at TMR, so we’re excited to say that the band’s second album, You Matter, has now dropped. It’s a magical seven-track album of atmospheric, forward-thinking, avant-garde, harp-led jazz. The album’s final single, ‘The Other’s Share’, is inspired by the complex relationship between one’s own many facets. It’s an impressive composition, with Campiche’s jagged yet smooth harp lines running above a virtuosic performance from her tight rhythm section. She says on the video: “The concepts in the video are about identity and the blurred boundaries we have between one another through the three characters we see, all dressed the same but we don’t see their faces and can only guess their gender.” Check out You Matter now. -Dan Peeke.
